Agriculture remains the mainstay of livelihoods for majority of population in the region despite of errant monsoon. Therefore it becomes important to focus on promotion of better land management and conservation practices. Organization, with an objective to enhance the income of the agrarian community and to render agriculture as a profitable livelihood option, has initiated several interventions. Animal Husbandry is the second-most widely practiced livelihood activity besides agriculture in the semi arid regions. The basic objective of the livestock management programme of NLRDF is to explore alternative livestock management practices in agro-pastoral context, evolving institutional base and enhancing productivity and market linkages.
