Sabarkantha District
NLRDF with the support of Gujarat State Aids Control Society, Ahmedabad implements AIDS Control Project since 2003 in urban areas of Idar, Himmatnagar, Vadali and Himmatnagar of Sabarkantha district. Under this project, no. of awareness programmes and trainings were conducted such as peer training, refresher training, livelihood training, SHGs meetings, Sneh Sammelan. Also testing of HIV, regular medical check up, couseling and treatment are provided under this Project.

Under the intervention 610 Vulnerable Women and 470 MSMs are covered. They are considered Key Population for the project.

This educational intervention aims to raise awareness to help young people to learn to adopt safe and responsible life style through building capacity of school functionaries, community members and young students. Under this programme awareness, advocacy workshop and refresher training activities were organized in 46 schools of Sabarkantha district. The focus was on the sexual and reproductive health with a special reference to HIV/AIDS and to create safe and healthy environment amongst the students and school teacher.

IRAAP is designed to address the alarming spread of HIV/AIDS in the rural areas. The programme focused on develope strategy and planning of intensive HIV/AIDS awareness programme in 300 villages of Pratij, Bayad and Dhansura talukas of Sabarkantha district and 225 villages Bhabhar, Diodar and Kankarej blocks of Banaskantha districtwith focus on village people, especially women.

In short goal is Reaching to the rural population in an intensive manner Building capacity of the Institution in a planned manner.

NLRDF organized an awareness workshop for 600 industrial workers of Ahmedabad. The programme focused on prevention of HIV infection, primarily through safe sex and needle-exchange programs is a key strategy to control the spread of the disease.

The programme focused on generating awareness among youth about various health related programmes including HIV/AIDS in 15 colleges of Sabarkantha district. Class room sessions in colleges were conducted to provide basic information on HIV/AIDS, food and nutrition. Motivation to students was provided for blood donation.

With the support of Gujarat State Aids Control Society , Ahmedabad, the focus of the project was on generating awareness and prevention about HlV/AlDS amongst more than 5000 high risk behaviors people of Idar, Vadali, Khedbrahma and Himmatnagar area of Sabarkantha district.
